I just got home from the 2nd Annual World Tarot & Towel Tea Party at my friend Ember’s. We had a lovely 4 hour party sipping tea, drooling over our new tarot decks and books, and co-reading spreads for one another. Read more to find out what we did and what I learned this afternoon!

WTD Card of the Year: King of Cups
Author: innowenMay 25

A few moments ago I pulled out my trusty Shadowscapes tarot and asked the cards: What is the spirit of Tarot for the next year? In return, I received the King of Cups.
As a Court Card, the King of Cups represents a very passionate thinker. He is old and wise and contains much knowledge. A slow thinker, he likes to choose his words carefully. He takes time to make sure things are phrased exactly as he wants it to be said.As an answer to the question for this year, the King of Cups suggests that we combine both knowledge and heart (passion) together to form a solid and long lasting formation with Tarot. This year will be the year that, if you study hard, and really take the time to integrate the cards’ wisdom, that you go deep and learn to become the mirror that Tarot is.
And on a personal note, the King of Cups is one of the cards that is focused on in the current Lesson (number 6—almost halfway there!) that I’m working on for my Tarot School Correspondence Degree study.
What card did you draw today? How does that perspective reflect the upcoming year’s worth of Tarot spirit for you and the rest of the world? Have more insight into the King of Cups? Please post a comment, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

It’s T minus 4 hours ’till Midnight. You know what that means? Both World Tarot Day and Towel Day begin. And tomorrow and Thursday are going to be jam packed with tarot fun for me. I’ll be adding three new posts between tomorrow and Thursday.
Follow my twitter feed (innotarot) to get first hand snippets of the fun as it unfolds. I plan to use the hashtag of #worldtarotday. You’ll get two posts from me tomorrow: a tarot tea party recap and another answering the question of “What is the spirit of Tarot for the next year?” On Thursday, I’ll share with you my experience with playing The Tarot Game with its creator, Jude Alexander.
Do you know where your tarot deck is? How about your towel? Are you ready to educate, experiment, and see what the tarot can do for you during this exciting tarot-charged day? If not, find your local tarot reader and ask them to share the wisdom of the cards with you!

Crafty Ideas for World Tarot Day
Author: innowenMay 13
So, no sooner than I get my World Tarot and Towel Day post up, my friend Cori (hi, cori) writes me back with this wonderful crafty idea that honors and celebrates both days:
Take a large white towel (may want to wash first, to remove the sizing). Using either non-alcohol based inks or acrylic paint (easily gotten from a local craft store), paint a simple Tarot image on it.
Alternatively, enlarge or screen-print a copy of your favorite card (with artist permission) onto a piece of fabric. Then glue or whipstitch it onto the towel.
Lug this around all day, or use as a flag–whatever feels right to you! :)
Thanks for the inspiration cori. I think I may have to try something similar at home on the 25th!
World Tarot Day 2011 is Coming

World Tarot (and Towel) Day is quickly coming up on May 25th. One event celebrates tarot, while the other celebrates the works of Douglas Adams and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Seeing that I’m both a reading and a tarot junkie, I combine the two together. Like last year, I will be participating in this event to help raise awareness of tarot by hosting a WTTTP (World Tarot Towel Tea Party) at my house. We’ll be hoopy froods as we play with tarot, share spreads, and lay the cards out on our towels.
You can learn more about World Tarot Day and how to participate at the official World Tarot Day website. Just click the banner below to get to the website.

2010 World Tarot Towel Tea Party Recap

Tuesday was World Tarot Day and apparently, Towel Day, and Wear Lilac Day as well. So, armed with that information I decided that it was only fitting that I did any, and all readings, on a towel. (The lilac part comes in later *gryn*.) I invited my tarot enthusiast friend over for a Tarot Party and boy did we have fun.
As part of the official World Tarot Day fun, I participated in the one-card draw that answered the question, “What is the message of Tarot to us worldwide at this time?” I drew the Eight of Swords from the Shadowscapes Tarot. I interpreted this card as, “The Spirit of Tarot says that we should stop relying on one sense (our eyes) and use the rest of our senses when dealing with the world around us. In doing so, we shall be free from the prison that we’ve made for ourselves.” To continue reading about my adventures in the World Tarot Towel Tea Party, click the read more link.
May 25th is World Tarot Day

Tomorrow is World Tarot Day. This holiday promotes the use of Tarot for the benefit & growth of the spiritual self. Founded by Den Elder, this adventuresome event has been going strong since 2003.
People all over the world will spend some time tomorrow to celebrate with their decks. As for me, I’ll be devoting a day of study to the cards. I’ll work on my Tarot School homework, swap readings with a friend, and take part in the World’s Largest Tarot Reading. This reading answers the question of: “What is the spirit of Tarot for the next year?” Stop by tomorrow, so you can view the results and hear more about my adventures.
